Purgatory is a Lie!

Definition:-    “According to the teaching of the [Roman Catholic] Church, the state, place, or condition in the next world . . . where the souls of those who die in the state of grace, but not yet free from all imperfection, make expiation for unforgiven venial sins or for the temporal punishment due to venial and mortal sins that have already been forgiven and, by so doing, are purified before they enter heaven.” (New Catholic Encyclopedia, 1967, Vol. XI, p. 1034)   -  (This rubbish is not a Bible teaching!)

                                                    On what teaching is purgatory based?

After reviewing what Catholic writers have said regarding their study of the Holy Scriptures, the New Catholic Encyclopedia (1967, Vol. XI, p. 1034) acknowledges: “In the final analysis, the Catholic doctrine on purgatory is based on tradition, and not Sacred Scripture.”

“The church has relied on tradition to support a middle ground between heaven and hell.”— U.S. Catholic, March 1981, p. 7.

“What goes on in purgatory is anyone’s guess.” — U.S. Catholic, March 1981, p. 9. -   (The only logical answer to these above statements is simple, purgatory does not exist!)

                                                           Does the soul survive death?

In order for purgatory to exist at all, the Soul of a man must live on after death?  But the Holy Scriptures show that the Soul ceases to exist at death!

Ezekiel chapter 18 verse 4, Dy:-   4 The soul that sinneth, the same shall die.

James chapter 5 verse 20, JB:-   Anyone who can bring back a sinner from the wrong way that he has taken will be saving a soul from death and covering up a great number of sins. -   (Notice that this scripture speaks of the death of the soul.)

                                                    No punishment for sin after death?

Romans chapter 6 verse 7, NAB:-   7 A man who is dead has been freed from sin. -    (Guilt makes no more claim on a man who is dead.)

Can the dead experience joy because of the prospect of salvation?

Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verse 5, JB:-   5 The living know at least that they will die, the dead know nothing.

Isaiah chapter 38 verse 18, JB:-   38 Sheol does not praise you [Yahweh], death does not extol you; those who go down to the pit do not go on trusting in your faithfulness.”  -   (So how can any of them “experience great joy over the certainty of salvation”?)

                                              the Bible shows how sins are removed?

Revelation chapter 1 verse 5, JB:-    5 Jesus Christ . . . loves us and has washed away our sins with his blood.

Conclusion: -   Purgatory dishonours the true God Jehovah, it is a totally false teaching that finds no support whatsoever in the Bible., and adds more weight to the fact that the Catholic church is full of pagan teachings and idol worship that will end in the death of anyone clinging to this false so called Christian religion!
